Three quick spring-cleaning business tips!

Ali Meehan

Ali Meehan, guest on the Rocking Your Role Show, shares her spring-cleaning business tips for busy business women.

If it takes too long to do, then for me, it may not happen; so here are my three quick spring-cleaning business tips:-

1. Review your Business card!
Do your business cards list your social media locations?  Lots of people I have met haven’t added these onto their card.  If you don’t have enough space to list them at http://about.me/  About.Me is a great free website where you have a page for your profile and it allows you to list all your online presence in one simple location.  You can then copy the URL and use this on your business card (here’s mine http://about.me/alimeehan/) About.Me also allow you to generate your profile into a business card format too through Moo.com (another great resource). The first pack of cards comes free – you just pay for the delivery costs (about $5.50). The card also adds a QR code on the business card that contains your About.Me profile.

2. Review your social media presence
When was the last time you reviewed your bios on social media.  Are all the fields completed?  Sounds simple, but for instance, on Facebook have you listed your business links on your personal profile under the contact information in the about tab?  Do these include links through to your website (or About.Me profile)?
Used up your 160 characters on your Twitter bio profile?  Add your About.Me profile in the website address to make it simple for people to find out more about you and your business.
Update your image – give your images on all social media a refresh.  Have a look at Canva – the latest free graphic design website with cool templates (for instance easily create a professional Facebook cover page) as well as download lots of royalty free images.

3. Review your promotion contacts
Do you have a hit list of contacts for your business promotion?   Does this include magazines and newspapers, radio and TV producers etc.?  Twitter is excellent for connecting with people who may be interested to feature your business.  Quick tip – whilst you can follow the media’s account, you should also look at who the newspaper, magazine etc. follows.   The majority would follow their journalists and writers.  These are the golden nuggets to connect with and start your interactions.

Whichever spring-cleaning ideas you take away, don’t forget to share your spring-cleaning business tips too!

Testimonials

“Jenny Garrett charts the rise of the female main earner (ME) in her highly engaging exploration of female breadwinners. That a fifth of women in the UK now earn more than their partners is significant, yet we hear little about this. Garrett’s book illustrates why this is something we should celebrate, and yet we are resistant to do so.This book is an invaluable and inspiring source for those who will, either through choice or by chance, embark on this exciting route. She offers advice and space to reflect and challenges one of the modern day taboos.”

Mary Honeyball
London MEP

“From the moment I started reading Rocking Your Role I was totally absorbed, recognising so many of the issues that Jenny refers to within this clearly written and practical book. She takes the reader on a journey which makes you question so many things about yourself but in a way that energises you to step back and think about your work life balance, and the importance of being honest with yourself and those around you. It will resonate with successful women, especially those who are the female breadwinners, in all areas of life.”

Pim Baxter
National Portrait Gallery

“Reading this book lifted the clouds of expectations, guilt, imaginary limitations …. it liberated me to pursue my own personal dreams while still providing for my family.”

Nadine Juignet
Hewlett Packard

“A series of interactive transformative exercises drawing from the world of coaching and psychology will support personal and professional development for all individuals. Jenny has a great writing voice and has bought a human touch to a taboo subject with great sensitivity and creativity.”

Philip Whiteley
Business author

“A rare and powerful book covering an immensely important subject in a personal, practical and very moving way. I was inspired by reading it and left breathless by the achievements of the author and the women whose stories she tells.”

Dr Ann Limb OBE DL

“This is a well researched book, that I think will meet a real need, the practical exercises are welcomed, much better than just a pile of theory. Perfect for those women struggling with being breadwinner.”
