Social Media and Juice Detox Day 2

I did it! Day 2 complete and I stuck to drinking my 5 juices a day and haven’t visited social media sites. Just incase you didn’t read yesterdays blog, you can find out all about Day 1 here. Read below for how I got on today…
I thought I’d be feeling weak and hungry when I woke up this morning, but felt the opposite. I rose bright and early with a spring in my step and meditated.  My first thoughts were about how I could incorporate exercise into my day, I managed to do about 90 minutes of walking in the end, solely powered by juices.
See the super short video I made first thing this morning.

I fell asleep easily last night and I did wake a couple of times to visit the ladies room, a side effect of drinking so much liquid. This continued during the day and it does feel a bit like I am taking diuretics, I now understand why my grandmother doesn’t like taking hers.
Although I have lots to do, I didn’t have any set meetings today, this was a good and bad thing.  I wasn’t under any pressure, but must admit that I didn’t feel like doing anything that required focused attention. I just felt like being kind to myself and this would have been an ideal day for a massage or to just sit in a park and read a book.
My craving for social media has passed, although I was told by my daughter today that blogging and video blogging are social media and like any addict perhaps I don’t realise that I have a problem.  If so, I have cut down at least.
I have a day full of meetings tomorrow and think that this will be a good thing, because I believe that it will be the most testing day, after all women cannot live on juice alone, can they? I feel that I am living my day from one juice to the next, almost counting down the minutes until the next one.  The time passes quickly, but its not where I want to put my attention. As I dream of my first meal on Friday, I know that I will really savour and appreciate the flavours and definitely reduce my portions, now I know I don’t need as much as I thought.
Realisations today

  • Slowing down and walking is fantastic, I’ve appreciated so much today that I wouldn’t have done if I drove.
  • When your head isn’t in a smart phone when you are walking along, you can say hello to people and they’ll say hello back, as a result you feel more connected to those around you.
  • This detox is a positive approach to self-care, really important for coaches who give a lot and contain client emotions on a daily basis.

“A series of interactive transformative exercises drawing from the world of coaching and psychology will support personal and professional development for all individuals. Jenny has a great writing voice and has bought a human touch to a taboo subject with great sensitivity and creativity.”

Philip Whiteley
Business author

“Reading this book lifted the clouds of expectations, guilt, imaginary limitations …. it liberated me to pursue my own personal dreams while still providing for my family.”

Nadine Juignet

“Jenny Garrett charts the rise of the female main earner (ME) in her highly engaging exploration of female breadwinners. That a fifth of women in the UK now earn more than their partners is significant, yet we hear little about this. Garrett’s book illustrates why this is something we should celebrate, and yet we are resistant to do so.This book is an invaluable and inspiring source for those who will, either through choice or by chance, embark on this exciting route. She offers advice and space to reflect and challenges one of the modern day taboos.”
